Running is fun again!

After a painful three months, I found and orthopedist, Dr. Pugsley, that pierced a cyst that was pressing on my spinal chord and also administered and epidural steroid injection. What a relief. Immediately I was able to walk upright and began the process of building back my endurance and repairing lost muscle mass on my right leg.

Running is fun again and I love being back in the mountains trail running. These are photos of a Big Horn Sheep I saw in Garden of the Gods (Colorado Springs, CO).

Trying to cope with Injury.

I had a severe case of sciatica on April 13th, it was the worst pain I have ever experienced. I spent two days in a wheelchair and two plus weeks on crutches to relieve the pressure off my spine. Since then I have tried to run a few times. I completed the Ogden Marathon 5k race. I 'ran' it with my mother and stayed with her until the last 1/2 mile when I had to run to the finish line.
It has been tough to deal with almost constant pain and not being able to run, especially not being able to get out on the trails. It is such an important part of my life.
I don't feel like the recovery is progressing well and hate having to rely on pain medications to be able to do anything other than sit.
